Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandal involved a teenage girl and for the first time she is speaking out. The teenager is not named because she is still a minor, but her father gave permission for her face to be shown.
The girl spoke to Inside Edition this week about what she describes as “disgusting” graphic messages from Weiner, who at the time was with his wife, Huma Abedin, a very close friend and aide of Hillary Clinton’s.
The teenage first made contact with when she was fifteen years old through a private Twitter message where she mentioned to him that she was a fan.
The girl said she wanted to see if Weiner was up to his old sexting habits. “I knew that Hillary Clinton would be running for president in the year 2016 and I wanted to see if Anthony was still up to the same antics,” she said in her Inside Edition interview.
The texts went both ways with the girl calling him “babe” and sending provocative pictures. Her feelings changed when Weiner stated sending not only graphic pictures of himself, but of him in bed with his then four year old son. “I was disgusted. That’s part of the reason I came forward.”
Her father said he let her share her story last year to prevent Weiner from doing the same thing with other young girls. “If there’s anybody out there that has a similar story that they can come forward, maybe use my daughter’s example to have the courage to come forward,” he said.
After the scandal broke, a criminal investigation started which included Weiner’s wife’s laptop. Detectives felt that Abedin had used the same laptop to receive classified information from Clinton’s private email server when she was Secretary of State.
FBI Director James Comey decided to reopen his investigation into Clinton’s emails, which was just two weeks before the polls opened for the presidential election.
The girl’s Inside Edition will be shown in full on Monday September 11.
