We’ll most likely be branded as “Islamophobic” for reporting this story, but honestly, PETA should be outraged by this horrifying event.
This is just another example of what the religion of peace brings to daily life. We did check with multiple sources to make sure this story was real just because it sounds so crazy.
In Libya, a pet monkey from a Muslim clan tugged on a young girl’s headscarf from another clan, which set in motion FOUR DAYS of deadly violence.
There have been at least 16 deaths and 50 people wounded in Libya during these four days, as reported by Mail and The Globe. The fight was between two rival factions in the southern city of Sabha.
The pet monkey belonged to a shopkeeper from the Gaddadfa clan when it ran out and attacked a group of schoolgirls that were just passing by. When the monkey pulled off one of the girl’s head scarf, bit, and scratched her, men from the opposing Awlad Suleiman clan chose to retaliate.
They decided to kill the monkey along with three people from the Gaddadfa clan, according to a local resident who spoke to reporters.
Later, the death toll went up to 20, according to BBC. Casualties are most likely greater as only the Awlad Suleiman tribe has been reporting deaths.
Fights between the two factions went as far as to involve rockets, mortars, tanks, and other deadly heavy weapons.
All because of a pet monkey!
We just can’t believe this. It’s clear that their religious practices are important but to kill and fight for days over a monkey seems extreme and ridiculous.
Sabha, like other parts of Libya, have been plagued by conflict since the uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi five years ago. Since then, the country has been broken into warring factions.
The Awlad Suleiman and Gaddadfa clans are the most powerful armed factions in the region. Seems like they’re just looking for something to fight about.
But who are we to judge though? We are the “racist haters” after all.
