Damaging leaks to the media from within the Trump administration have dogged the early months of President Trump’s presidency. Now, it appears, the source of those leaks has been discovered.
According to a report from One America News Network chief White House correspondent Trey Yingst, three staff members within the White House have been identified as the primary sources of information leaked to the press. This has been a major ongoing problem, and one that should be resolved upon the President’s return from his visit to the Middle East. Yingst reports that the identified individuals will be fired upon Trump’s return to the U.S.
Yingst’s source for this information also suggested that criminal charges against the culprits was a possibility. Pursuant to the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, the unauthorized disclosure of classified information is a crime.
The matter has been referred to the Office of Government Ethics. If it determines criminal acts may have occurred, it could refer the case to the proper law enforcement agencies.
Liberal media outlets such as the Washington Post and New York Times have made much of President Trump supposedly providing classified information to the Russians. But, as Patrick Buchanan pointed out in an article he posted on his website Monday, the President has authority to declassify security information. And what was the secrets he allegedly shared with Russia? That ISIS was working on the development of laptop explosive devices that could be brought onboard airlines.
Russia and the U.S. both share a common threat in the form of Islamic terrorism. Over a year before the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, Russian intelligence shared information with its U.S. counterparts that Tamerlan Tsarnaev had become radicalized. Sharing intelligence on terrorist threats is in the mutual interest of the U.S. and Russia.
This information, by the way, had already been leaked by an source within the U.S. government, and it wasn’t Trump. And who first broke that news? The Washington Post. If disclosing classified information in this case is a bad thing, should not the Post be held accountable?
There has been sources within the administration that have been working hard to damage the Trump presidency. It appears they have finally been caught. Thankfully, these people will now be weeded out, and perhaps this will end the leaks. Trump has been forced to fight on so many fronts – the Democrats, most of the media, many Republicans, and even individuals within his own administration and U.S. intelligence. Facing all that, it is amazing his presidency has been as successful as it has.
Hopefully, with the rotten apples within the White House removed, President Trump and his team can finally turn their full attention to what they were elected for – making America great again.
